What is QUEST at Arthur Phillip High School? 

Quest is a line of gifted and talented classes that ensure high-capability learners are being challenged. In the Quest class, highly trained teachers who are aware of the needs of high potential students create challenging curriculum to extend learners. Opportunities in this class offer participation in academic pentathlon and more systematic competition opportunities such as ICAS testing. 

Is your child suitable for the Quest class? 

  • Do they have a history of high academic achievement?
  • Are they interested in learning new things and like to work on their own projects that are interesting to them? 
  • Are they are curious about concepts and ideas that are beyond their age?
  • Do they have a history of being bored as a result of a lack of challenge?

 

How to apply for the Quest class 2023

  • Entry into Quest is based on a combination of the strength of the application and your results in an assessment.

  • Make sure you fill in:

    • Student application form

    • Parent nomination form

    • Attach quality evidence to support the information provided.

    • Pay the application fee of $30 to the front office once you have been invited to complete the testing.

       

  • There will be three rounds of entry this year, if you are not successful in the first round, you may be successful in later rounds.

iSTEM Programs at Arthur Phillip High School

iSTEM is offered at Arthur Phillip High School in Stage 5. iSTEM is an innovative student-centered elective that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The course focuses on applied learning and skillset development based on the needs of local and national industry. Our program includes: 

  • Sustainable Housing

  • Solar car challenge

  • Python coding challenge

  • Sphero

  • Lego Mindstorms
  • F1 in schools (CO2 dragsters)

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

IMPORTANT DATES: 

  • Expression of Interest must be returned to your respective primary school by 18/3/2022. 
  • 1st   Choice process will begin 11/5 concludes 26/5/2022. 
  • 2nd Choice process will begin 7/6/22 concludes 20/6/2022.
  • 3rd Choice process will begin 25/7/22 concludes 5/8/2022.
     

NON-LOCAL AREA (Out of Area) APPLICATION PROCESS: 

If your child is a non-local area applicant, and you wish to apply to Arthur Phillip High School as an out-of-area candidate, you must fill in Section C of your Expression of Interest 2023 document. In addition, Arthur Phillip High School will request that you provide the following for consideration from the enrolment panel:

  • TWO documents as proof of residential address totaling 40 points or more. (Eg. lease agreement, utility bill with address)  
  • Passport size photo of the student.
  • Last school report.
  • Year 5 NAPLAN results.
  • Student sample of work that they would like to share with the enrolment panel.
  • A letter by the parent/guardian stating the reasons why they believe Arthur Phillip High School is the most appropriate educational setting for their child.
  • A letter from the child stating why they wish to attend Arthur Phillip High School and what talents they would bring to the school community.
  • Provide copies of any merits, awards, and certificates the child has received in Year 6.

When is Orientation Day for new Year 7 Students?

Orientation Day is set by the Department of Education for future Year 7 students to attend their high school as part of their transition program. Currently, Orientation day is set for the 29/11/2022.

 

Where can I purchase the Arthur Phillip High School Uniform? 

You can purchase the Arthur Phillip High School uniform at Lowes Parramatta Westfield and from Lowes online. Click here for more information about our uniform. 

 

Will I require a technology device for my child? 

Arthur Phillip High School has committed to a BYOD policy in which students are required to bring a technology device to access educational resources at school. 

 

 

 

Students at Arthur Phillip High School utilize a range of digital resources. At Arthur Phillip, students use platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Sites and Hapara Dashboard to access curriculum.
